In the past most Employee Handbooks contained a policy about limiting the use of the phone on your desk for personal calls. What few companies seem to realize is that today they have the same right to have a policy that limits the use of cellular phones in the workplace for personal calls. The owner of the phone is irrelevant. The use for personal purposes is the key. Also talk about the use of the cell phone while driving which is both unsafe and illegal in some states. Further, the company could be held liable in case of an accident induced by cell phone usage while driving.
